Who doesn’t love the most extreme race in the world, Irish dancing, Irish music, beer, great weather and good people?
If you weren’t able to make it to Puma City this past month to see what all the hype of the Volvo Ocean Race is about, then I am sorry to say it but you have missed out.
The Volvo Ocean Race village was at Fan Pier near the Seaport World Trade center in Boston for the past month, playing host to tons of events and activities including the crazy Puma City. Last night was the final evening before the sailboats set off for their trans-Atlantic race to Galway, Ireland.
So if you have no idea what this whole race is about then check out the video below. There was this igloo looking building in the village that played a 10 minute movie showcasing “What is ocean racing?”. Needless to say, the guys who race are absolutely out of their minds.
Back to the Volvo Ocean Race Village. There was a fantastic Irish Band playing all night and they were accompanied by some amazing Irish dancers. Ireland’s tourism bureau brought over some of the premier musicians and Irish dancers (one of the girls is the world champion) to promote the next port for the race which will be in Galway.
Check out this video to see the encore of the band and the dancers!
